Dare to believe you can stop unrighteousness & oppression

After the death of Pharaoh and when a new Pharaoh arose that knew not Joseph he started oppressing the Jews until the unrighteousness reached the stage of killing innocent babies because he was afraid of a surge in the population of Israel.

The Egyptian midwives are the first to dare to believe against this law as they see that it is wrong. In Exodus 1:17-21

But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive. And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

There is a reward that comes to you when you dare to believe.

Then comes Moses’s parents. They also dared to believe. They could not kill their child. And because of their faith God does something I love, he is the extraordinary strategist. He causes Moses to be found by Pharaohs daughter who then adopts him and he is raised in the house of the very person who is seeking the demise of the Israelite race. Not only this, Pharaohs daughter employs Moses mother to take care of her own son and pays her for this very service. O my O my, can you guys see the rewards of daring to believe God. Not only is Moses saved but the family also gets a financial reward for taking care of their own son while they properly teach him about his heritage and what they believed God had called him to do.

When Moses grows up he dares to believe that staying in the palace is not what God spared his life for, he refuses to be called the son of Pharaohs daughter. Surely this took some guts because not only did Moses put his life in danger, he was distancing himself from the most powerful family on the earth at that time because Egypt was a great nation and he was an adopted son of the daughters of one of the most powerful man on earth at the time. He however understood that there was an even more powerful being that resides in the heavenlies. Also he understood there is a reward for daring to believe.Hebrews 11: 23-27

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment. By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter;

Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

Eventually he comes back as a deliverer for the nation of Israel and he leads the nation of Israel out of slavery and towards the Promised Land.

In Esther’s time there arose a man by the name of Haman, a wicked man who tried to force people to respect him and when Mordecai refused to bow down he decided to commit genocide.2 people decide to stand up against this beast i.e Mordecai & Esther

After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

And all the king’s servants, that were in the king’s gate, bowed, and reverenced Haman: for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence.

Then the king’s servants, which were in the king’s gate, said unto Mordecai, Why  transgressest thou the king’s commandment?

Now it came to pass, when they spake daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai’s matters would stand: for he had told them that hewas a Jew.

And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.

And he thought scorn to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had shewed him the people of Mordecai: wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

Unrighteousness & oppression sometimes can be very subtle. I mean what would have Mordecai lost by just paying homage to Haman since it just happened in the space of maybe a few minutes as he was passing. Surely someone might think what would he have lost by just complying with the King’s command? Well for one he would have remained just as an ordinary member of the Kings court, he would not have entered into the inheritance that God had in store for him, and also he would have bowed down to an idol, because this is exactly what this was: idolatry! Yet Mordecai knew better, he knew the laws of his God and he stood for them.

The problem is when you dare to believe you will make a lot of people angry especially those who are being used by the devil or those who just don’t understand why you don’t flow with the tide, doing what everyone else is doing. But you see great people stand out of the crowd, they don’t follow the tide because if you do what everyone else is doing then you will get the results that everyone else is getting. So he gets into trouble but still he dares to believe that Esther has been called to the palace for such a time as this and instructs her to go unto the King. In Esther 4:7-17

And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people. And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai; All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days. And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words.Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews. For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?  Then Esther bade them return Mordecaithis answer, Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish. So Mordecai went his way, and did according to all that Esther had commanded him.
